What are Artists' Proof cards?

Artists' Proof cards are cards that Wizards of the Coast provided to the artists as additional compensation for use of their art on Magic: the Gathering and Jyhad: The Masquerade games.

These proof cards are also referred to as "white back cards" because the card backs have no printing. There is no Magic: the Gathering logo on the back of these cards. This was done so that the artists could use them as business cards or as promotional reminder material to leave with Art Directors during an interview as a tear sheet, proof of publication.

The quantity of each individual card image vary but usually, only 50 copies of each proof card exists. As Magic™ grew in popularity, the Artists proof cards became a collectible commodity. As more editions are printed, these 50 become rarer which makes them more valuable.

A certificate of Authenticity is included with every card or set sold.
