Artists' Proof cards are cards that Wizards of the Coast provided the artists as compensation for use of their art on the Magic: the Gathering game and on the Jyhad: The Masquerade game in association with White Wolf Games.
They are also referred to as "white backs" because there is no printing on the back of the cards. This was done so that the artists could use them as business cards or as promotional material left behind with Art Directors. The quantity of individual cards vary due to printing variables but usually, only 50 copies of each card printed exisits. As Magic™ grew in popularity, the Artists proof cards became a collectible commodity. As more edtitions are printed, these 50 become rarer and more valuable just as baseball cards do. A certificate of Authenticity is included with every card or set sold. To see what cards are available, follow this Proof Card List link.
