A many headed water snake whose head would grow back again if it was lopped off. The Hydra was eventually slain by Hercules. This one is blue and gold with a spotted belly. We see it emerging onto the beach looking for trouble.

Part women and part snake, these three yellow yellow bodied women have cobra markings on their hoods with a blue and green celtic pattern on their backs. The tail curls into a red spiral. They intertwine and dance in a surrealistic background with an orange sky and checkered ground.

The fan who commissioned this work wanted the recreation with a twist. He felt that the Lord of Atlantis on the card was protecting something and he wanted a painting that would elaborate on that. So the Lady of Atlantis was put in.

A Phoenix is a strikingly beautiful and remarkable bird with the ability to rise from the ashes of it's funeral pyre to be reborn and live it's 5 - 6 century life cycle again.

The Sphinx of Greek times asked a riddle of all travelers who passed by. "What is it that goes on 4 legs in the morning, 2 legs in the afternoon and 3 legs in the evening, but the more legs it has the weaker it is?" The Sphinx was also popular with the ancient Egyptians.
