Available From Full Steam Press in two formats—softcover or jacketed hardcover—this limited release art book is a must-have for anyone that loved the early days of Magic art.
All of the artists involved in The Gathering art book had complete creative freedom. Some chose to commemorate the 20th anniversary with a re-imagining of one of their early Magic cards, while others chose to focus on their artistic development in the intervening years. This has resulted in a collection of art demonstrating that same amazing, eclectic range of talents and styles that was the hallmark of early Magic sets.
Each double page spread is dedicated to a single classic Magic artist. Here they share their thoughts and anecdotes, and showcase a painting, most created especially for The Gathering.
The book also features a foreword by the game's creator, Richard Garfield, and an afterword by the game's original art director (and designer of the famous Magic card-back), Jesper Myrfors. Twelve pages of process-drawings and sketches, and artist contact information round out the book's back-matter.
Full-color, perfect bound. 128 pages. 9.5" by 8.25". Printed in the U.S.A.
